Sevadar ਸੇਵਾਦਾਰ:

A being who practices selfless service (seva).

Sevadar Highlights

Community Involvement

A Day in Punjab

A Day in Punjab (formerly Turban Day) is an event that showcases many different aspects of the the Sikh/Punjabi culture including turban tying, dance, music, gatka, vendors, food, etc. Our goal is to create an event for our the community to gather, share and learn.

Blood Drives

We partner with Bloodworks Northwest to hold annual blood drive campaigns. We also educate our community about the benefits of donating blood. We’ve saved 159 lives through six blood drives.

Turban Tying

We have hosted six annual turban day events held at the Seattle Center. The turban is a key characteristic seen in the Sikh/Punjabi community and this event gave us a chance to gather and teach others about us. This event will be part of A Day in Punjab going forward.

Toy Drives

Our annual toy drives are a popular event in December for the community members to take part in. Community members donate new toys to us and we host an evening where everyone comes together to wrap all of them. These are later donated to a charity.

Langar Seva

We host monthly langar seva (bring a meal) events at homeless shelters through Seattle’ Union Gospel Mission. This creates an opportunity to volunteer, to learn to cook, overcome our biases about those experiencing homelessness and truly make a difference.

Volunteer Opportunities

We emphasize the importance of seva (selfless service) by offering many different opportunities for community members to get involved in and give back. This includes Food Lifeline, blood drives, medical camps, Sevadar events and many others.
