A Day In Punjab
Our Annual Punjabi Cultural Festival takes place every year at Seattle Center on the first Saturday of August. This vibrant, family-friendly event celebrates Punjabi culture through music, dance, history, and community.
Visitors can enjoy live entertainment including free turban tying, Gatka, Bhangra, Giddha, live singing with dhol, traditional plays, and bhand (comedy). We’re proud to have featured talented artists such as Vikram Singh (AmaSingh Magician), Raagnder (violinist), Inkquisitive, and many more.
The festival also includes Sikh and Punjabi history exhibits, immigrant story showcases, a activities for kids, and free langar seva (community meals) for all attendees. Last year alone, we served over 1,000 free meals, continuing the tradition of seva (selfless service) that is central to our community.
The event is free and open to everyone! Come enjoy and learn!
Langar Seva
Langar (the free community kitchen) and seva (selfless service) are core principles of Sikhism. In partnership with UGM, we volunteer at two of their shelters every month, preparing and serving Langar to those experiencing homelessness.
This is one of the most fulfilling ways to give back to our most vulnerable neighbors. Along the way you’ll also learn valuable skills, including how to prepare delicious Punjabi food!
Sign up to volunteer and help prep Langar for our community.
A special thank you, as always, to our partner Mayuri for their generous sponsorship.
Blood Drive
Twice a year, we partner with Bloodworks Northwest to host community blood drives, with Sacha Marag Gurdwara generously providing the space. We are grateful for the strong and consistent community turnout and the willingness to give such a life-saving gift.
Interested in volunteering or donating? Please email us to be notified about our next blood drive.
Clothing/Toy Drive
Our annual winter Toy and Clothing Drive honors the sacrifice of the Chote Sahibzade and Mata Gujri, who were held captive in a cold tower by the Mughal emperor in December 1705. Their resilience and courage continue to inspire us to serve those in need during the coldest time of the year.
We collect clothing and toy donations from the community through local gurdwaras, with additional support from local retailers such as Target. Sevadar members, with the help of volunteers, then come together to sort and wrap the gifts—sharing food and treats along the way.
The toys and games are sent to a nonprofit organization to be distributed to children, helping spread warmth and joy throughout the holiday season.
Amazon Corporate
Sevadar partners with Sikhs at Amazon, a worldwide network of Sikhs working at Amazon, to celebrate Sikh heritage through corporate events including Vaisakhi, Bandi Chhor Divas, Lohri, Guru Nanak Gurpurab, Bhangra workshops and more. These partnerships help share Sikh culture within Amazon and contribute to Seattle’s diverse cultural landscape.
Beyond corporate events, our organizations collaborate on networking initiatives in and around Seattle, connecting students with professionals in the local Sikh community.
Mentorship
5 Rivers Youth Mentorship Project is a pilot program empowering Punjabi youth by connecting them with local professionals who offer mentorship, education, and career guidance. As our community transitions into diverse professional fields, we’re creating a dedicated space where experience meets aspiration. We support families navigating the U.S. education system and believe that representation matters! When youth see people like them succeeding, new possibilities open up. Together, we’re building a future where our youth feel confident, supported, and prepared to thrive. Find out more on our website and follow us on instagram.
Gurdwara Cleanup
Our work is deeply rooted in the support of our community’s spiritual centers, our Gurdwaras. Gurdwara Sacha Marag of Auburn has consistently opened its doors to us, providing space to collect donations, host blood drives, and bring our community together in service. This cleanup is our way of giving back through seva, showing gratitude for the support we’ve received while helping preserve a welcoming, respectful space for all who come to pray, gather, and serve.
